Ice cube

The intimacy
to stay seated.

To bring together
all the parts
of yourself.

You know those moments.

A word, an idea
completely rearranges
something in your head.

It untangles the tangle.

Ice cube.

Meet yourself where you are.
Joining the melting
to the untangling.

‘Because we love what is here
and it carries us*.’

This piece was inspired, amongst other wisdom teachers, by Pamela Weiss, a Buddhist teacher in the Insight and Soto Zen traditions.

* The last stanza is a direct reference to words she used in a teaching.
