School of Blue: the blog

Never be ashamed of who you are.  Never let people decide how you should feel about yourself.  A person’s a person no matter how small.

Bob Collymore

These are personal musings from which I hope you gain as much as I have in writing them. Over time, they have taken a different form as I have found my footing. Their origins may well be autobiographical but, more importantly, they have been inspired by other writers and poets. Each has their meaning according to the reader and your conclusions are even more significant than my pieces.

It’s worth remembering the following from John O’Donohue, the Irish writer:

Looking out to the Indian Ocean Sedgefield, South Africa

“When we devote no time to the inner life, we lose the habit of soul. We become accustomed to keeping things at surface level. The deeper questions about who we are and what we are here for visit us less and less. If we allow time for soul, we will come to sense its dark and luminous depth. If we fail to acquaint ourselves with soul, we will remain strangers in our own lives.”
